Ive been using GPT-4 for ages but the built-in browsing keeps timing out on my local research project due tomorrow morning and Im kinda panicking. Since I'm on a strict zero budget for this, I really need a reliable workaround. Are there any legit free ChatGPT plugins for efficient web searching that actually work?

To add to the point above: I totally went through this nightmare last week! I was freaking out over a deadline and the native browser just died on me. I started using the WebChatGPT Browser Extension for Chrome and Firefox and it was amazing. It scrapes Google results and feeds them into the context window as text, bypassing the slow built-in browsing. Game changer for speed, seriously! Just toggle the search and you're golden.

There definitely are. I was in the exact same boat last month trying to finish a deep dive on historical data for a side project. The default browser was just spinning forever and it was driving me nuts. A free tool I found basically acts as a bridge between the search engine and the chat interface, and I've been using it for a few weeks now. Honestly, I'm so happy with how it performs. It just works well without all those annoying timeout errors that usually happen when things get busy. My current setup has been a lifesaver for quick research and didnt cost me anything. It taught me that sometimes the official tools are just too heavy compared to these lightweight community versions.
