i have this huge interview for an entry level ai role in london next tuesday and im honestly spiralling. i only have like 50 pounds left in my monthly budget for a quick workshop or something so i gotta pick one area to polish. im stuck between focusing on communication like being able to explain crazy tech stuff to normal people or should i go with critical thinking/ethics because of all the bias issues lately?? im really quiet so the talking part scares me but i dont want to seem like i lack logic either. which of these is actually gonna get me the job...
I would go with communication, tbh. I remember my first gig at a startup where I spent weeks on a model but couldn't explain the 5% drift to the PM. It was a total disaster.
Go with communication. I've been happy just recording my practice runs. Grab a Logitech C270 HD Webcam 720p and watch your eye contact. Self-critique works better than a workshop.
Be careful about blowing your last 50 on a workshop. Most are overpriced fluff. I would suggest focusing on critical thinking since bias is huge right now. Grab a used copy of Oxford University Press Ethics of AI Hardcover if you can. Make sure to explain how you audit datasets for hidden bias... it proves you actually have logic without needing a workshop.
