I'm starting my second year and the workload is already piling up. I'm looking for free AI tools to help with:

  • Research citations
  • Summarizing long academic papers

Since I'm on a tight budget, I can't afford paid subscriptions. Are there any specific tools you've found super helpful for note-taking or drafting essays this semester?

+1 to what was said! AI often fakes sources which is super risky for ur grades, so maybe try:

  • ResearchRabbit

Its totally free and finds real papers safely without hallucinations, right?

In my experience, i've seen too many students get burned by fake citations... i've tried many tools and i'd suggest Perplexity AI Free Version for summaries vs Consensus AI Search for evidence. perplexity is fast but honestly can hallucinate papers, while consensus stays grounded in real data tho ur limited on free searches. lesson learned? always double-check the source cuz ai makes mistakes... better safe than sorry!!

For ur situation, I'd suggest Elicit since I had issues with other tools hallucinating tbh... it is basically the best free way to summarize real papers without wasting money!!
