i have this massive interview coming up in like 10 days for a data analyst position here in brooklyn and they basically told me i need to show proficiency in modern ai tools and implementation which is super vague right?? like what does that even mean in 2024 specifically? ive been scouring the app store and google but honestly im just getting more confused. i tried downloading brilliant because everyone says their bite-sized lessons are good but it feels a bit too much like a math game and i need something more practical like for prompt engineering or actually using llms in a workflow. then i looked at coursera but their mobile app is kinda clunky for when im on the subway and the courses take like 40 hours to finish which i dont have.

my logic was that there has to be some dedicated app that focuses on the 2024 landscape since things are moving so fast. i found a few things but nothing feels right:

  • brilliant (too much theory/math for me)
  • coursera (too slow and the interface is annoying)
  • enki (reviews say the ai track is outdated and doesn't cover gpt-4o)

my budget is around 50 or 60 bucks for a month if it actually works. i need something that i can grind through while im commuting or late at night. are there any apps that actually focus on the practical side of ai for business instead of just coding neural networks from scratch? i dont need to be a developer i just need to be an expert user who understands the underlying logic enough to not look like an idiot during the technical round. is there anything that gamifies it but actually stays updated with the 2024 tech? or am i just looking in the wrong place and should stick to youtube? idk im just panicking a bit because the clock is ticking and i really need this job to pay my rent this month...

Man, I totally get that panic! Data analyst roles in NYC are getting intense lately, but you can definitely crush this. If you want something that actually fits your budget and isn't just a boring math slog, you 100% gotta check out DataCamp Premium Monthly Subscription. I've used it for years and it's honestly amazing for exactly what you're doing because they have specific tracks for AI Fundamentals and Generative AI that are super practical. I love it because the mobile app is fantastic for the subway! You can literally knock out lessons on your phone while you're commuting, and it's way more hands-on than Brilliant and way faster than Coursera. Since your budget is around 50 or 60 bucks, this fits perfectly since you can just pay for one month and grind. Tbh, another pro tip? Spend $20 of that budget on OpenAI ChatGPT Plus GPT-4o Subscription. Best way to learn prompt engineering is to actually use the top-tier model to help you study! Use it to simulate your interview questions or help you summarize complex data concepts while you're on the go. It is the most 2024 thing you can do. Seriously, dont overthink the math stuff, just focus on how these tools actually help a business move faster. You're gonna do great!

> i just need to be an expert user who understands the underlying logic enough to not look like an idiot during the technical round I totally get that stress, but i would suggest being a bit cautious with the mobile-only approach for a data analyst gig. Most apps water down the technical side too much. What kind of implementation did they mention specifically? Like, are you gonna be using AI to automate SQL or just basic prompt engineering for reports? Since you mentioned the subway commute, you might want to consider Sololearn Pro Monthly Subscription. Its way more mobile-friendly than Coursera and they have a decent AI track. But honestly, i would spend part of that budget on an OpenAI ChatGPT Plus Subscription and force yourself to solve data projects using their data analysis features. Nothing beats breaking things in the real UI. Just make sure to stay focused on 2024 features like gpt-4o or you might look behind. You got this tho!

Late to the party but building on the earlier suggestion, you might want to consider these. Be careful with purely mobile apps tho, they often lack the depth for a real data role.

  • Codecademy Pro Monthly Membership has a mobile app to practice AI logic and prompt engineering on the subway.
  • LinkedIn Learning Monthly Subscription is great for practical business AI implementation. Try focusing on the AI for Data paths specifically. Youll crush this interview, dont sweat it.
