I’ve been experimenting with a few AI generators lately, but I’m struggling to get that crisp, professional look for character portraits. I'm specifically looking for something that handles skin textures and realistic lighting well without looking too 'plastic' or overly AI-generated. I've tried Midjourney, but I often find the eyes and hair details can be a hit or miss in close-ups. Consistency is also a big factor for me since I want to use these characters for a story project. Are there specific models or platforms you'd recommend that excel at hyper-realistic anatomy and fine details? What’s your go-to tool for getting that perfect, lifelike finish?

If ur looking to save money while getting that lifelike finish, I highkey recommend Stable Diffusion XL 1.0. It's totally free if you run it locally, and the control you get over skin textures via LoRAs is unmatched for story consistency.

Another solid budget option is Flux.1 [dev]. I've been testing it on Tensor.art lately cuz they have a decent free daily tier. Honestly, the anatomy and eye details in Flux.1 [pro] are way ahead of MJ right now and it doesn't have that weird plastic sheen.
