I am looking to switch careers into tech and want to learn AI during my commute. I need something that covers:

  • Python basics
  • Neural networks
  • Practical projects

I am a complete beginner and feel overwhelmed by all the online options. Can you recommend a mobile-friendly app for learning AI from scratch?

Agreed, those apps are basically toys. Try Enki AI and Data Science Path because it teaches branching logic and technical syntax, so you dont struggle when starting neural network layers.

Saw this yesterday and had to jump in because I'm basically in the same boat. I've been super cautious about spending money on those big bootcamps when I'm not even sure if I'm gonna be good at it yet. Money is kinda tight right now so I've been sticking to the budget-friendly stuff. I started with Sololearn Python 3 Course just to see if I liked coding... it's free and pretty low pressure for a total beginner. When I felt ready for the actual AI stuff, I didn't want to commit to a huge upfront cost. I eventually found a deal on the Coursera Plus Annual Subscription which basically covers everything for one price. It's been way better for my wallet than buying individual certificates. Definitely look for those first month discount deals before you go all in. Just my two cents as a fellow newbie!

Welcome to the grind! Honestly, switching to AI is a marathon, not a sprint. Ive been in this space for about a decade now and the biggest mistake I see beginners make is relying way too much on those gamified mobile apps. You know the ones... they feel like Duolingo but for code. Theyre great for a quick dopamine hit, but they rarely teach you how to actually build something from scratch. If youre gonna learn during a commute, my biggest warning is: dont just watch videos. Youll think you understand neural networks because the animation looks cool, but the moment you open a blank script, your brain will basically freeze. Its called tutorial hell and its where most beginners get stuck for months and months. Its a trap. Instead, look for platforms that actually force you to write code in a mobile terminal. If the app just lets you drag and drop blocks or pick multiple-choice answers, honestly, just skip it. You need to be typing out the syntax for Python lists and loops until its muscle memory. If you arent actually typing code, you arent learning it. Also, be careful with apps that use AI to teach AI... sometimes the explanations are just slightly off or outdated, which can lead to bad habits early on. Commuting is a tough time to focus, so maybe use that time for the logic and core concepts first. Trying to debug a complex neural network on a 5-inch screen is a recipe for a massive headache tho. Focus on the fundamentals first and dont rush into the flashy stuff just yet.
