Hey everyone! I’ve been really wanting to dive into the world of Artificial Intelligence, but I’m a total beginner and honestly feel a bit overwhelmed by all the jargon. Since I have a long daily commute, I’m looking for a solid mobile app where I can learn the basics from scratch. I’m specifically interested in something that covers machine learning foundations and maybe some Python basics through bite-sized, interactive lessons—sort of like Duolingo but for AI. I’ve seen a few options in the App Store, but I’m not sure which ones are actually beginner-friendly and worth the time. Does anyone have a favorite app that makes complex AI concepts easy to grasp for a newbie?

Sooo, I would suggest Sololearn: Learn to Code vs Enki: Learn AI, Coding, SQL. Sololearn is basically Duolingo for code—super interactive, tho sometimes it's a bit too simple. Enki offers better technical insights and actual AI tracks. Honestly, I've tried many over the years; Sololearn is better for Python basics, while Enki is better for ML foundations. Both are great for commutes tho! gl!

For your situation, I would suggest starting with DataCamp: Learn Data Science. I feel u on the jargon overload... it's literally a lot to take in at first!! DataCamp is basically the gold standard for learning machine learning foundations on the go and actually covers the math/theory alongside Python syntax in a way that's easy to digest during a commute.

Also look at Sololearn: Learn to Code if u want that Duolingo vibe for Python basics specifically. Just a quick tip: be cautious about the "gamification" effect in these apps. It’s easy to feel like an expert after a few streaks, but real-world AI deployment requires deep dives into data ethics and rigorous model validation that mobile apps sometimes gloss over... Stick to the structured "Career Tracks" for the most reliable results. Anyway, gl!!

Quick reply while I have a sec! Hmm, I've had a different experience. WARNING: watch out for those expensive monthly subs!

* Avoid apps that 'gamify' too much—you lose the depth.
* Try Kaggle's mobile site—it’s literally FREE.

Honestly, I've wasted sooo much cash on apps that just teach syntax. Kaggle is *amazing* cuz it’s highkey the industry standard and way more practical for real learning, right? 👍

TL;DR: Most AI apps are unfortunately just shallow games. Brilliant.org Premium is the only one that felt reliable for learning the actual logic, even if it costs more. To add to the point above: Ridley is spot on about the gamification trap. I was honestly so disappointed with how many apps just feel like toys. I spent way too much time on Mimo: Learn Coding/HTML/JS and it just wasnt as good as expected for actual AI concepts... it felt like I was just memorizing syntax without understanding the machine learning part. I had issues with the lack of depth in most mobile tools, but here is my comparison:

  • Brilliant: Best for the why and the logic. It actually makes you think, which is rare for a mobile app.
  • Mimo: Fun for a commute and very polished, but it stays on the surface level. Honestly, if you want something that actually sticks, you gotta focus on the theory. Most of these apps are just fancy flashcards tbh.
