Hey everyone! I’ve been running a small boutique online shop for a few months now, and I’m finding that keeping up with fresh visual content for my social media and website is becoming a huge time-sink (and getting pretty expensive!). I’ve seen some amazing AI-generated images lately and I’m curious if I can use them to create product lifestyle shots or eye-catching backgrounds for my promos.

I’ve toyed around with Midjourney a bit, but the Discord interface is a little confusing for me, and the monthly subscription starts to add up when you're watching every penny. I’m looking for something more user-friendly and, most importantly, budget-friendly. My ideal budget is under $20 a month, or even better, a tool with a solid 'pay-as-you-go' model so I’m not tied to a subscription during slow months. It also needs to allow for commercial use, since these will be for my business.

Has anyone found a hidden gem that balances quality with a low price point? I’ve heard about Canva’s AI features and Bing Image Creator, but I’m not sure if they’re high-quality enough for professional-looking ads. What are you guys using for your small business branding that won't break the bank?

For your situation, I've been in that exact same boat trying to save a buck while keeping the shop looking fresh! I'm still kinda new to this, but I've found two tools that are way easier than Midjourney's Discord mess.

1. Canva Pro - Honestly, I use this for everything. Their 'Magic Edit' and 'Magic Media' tools are sooo simple. It's $15 a month and totally worth it cuz it includes commercial licenses and you can literally turn a basic photo into a lifestyle shot in seconds.

2. Leonardo.ai - This is my favorite hidden gem! It has a much better web interface than Midjourney. They have a free daily allowance, but their 'Apprentice' plan is only like $10/month if you need more. The quality is seriously highkey professional.

Both are WAY better than Bing for ads imo. Good luck with the boutique!! 👍

Just sharing my experience: I went through this last year and honestly felt sooo overwhelmed by those monthly fees. I basically started using Leonardo.ai cuz their daily free tokens let me experiment without spending a dime. It's way easier than Discord! Plus, I found Playground.com is decent for backgrounds. It reallyyy helps when you're watching every penny. I mean, it's not perfect but for a small shop, it works!!

To add to the point above: I’ve been really satisfied with Adobe Firefly Premium lately for my own small shop promos. If you are tired of the Discord mess, this is way more intuitive since it is all web-based. It is usually around $10 a month which is well under your limit and the commercial rights are pretty solid since it is trained on stock images. Quick tip for you: dont bother trying to generate a fake version of your product from a prompt. It never looks quite right. Just take a clear photo of your actual item on a plain table and use the generative fill feature to build the lifestyle background around it. It keeps your brand authentic while looking like you hired a pro photographer. Also, check out Ideogram 2.0 if you need text in your images that actually reads like real words... it is a total game changer for making quick social media banners without the headache.
