Im honestly just so fed up with the stuff Ive been finding lately for my 9-year-old daughter. Everything that claims to be AI for kids is either way too complicated for an elementary schooler or its literally just a generic wrapper for ChatGPT that has zero safety filters and its driving me crazy. I tried one last week that cost $15 a month and it couldnt even explain simple multiplication without sounding like a college textbook. I just want something that actually works and doesnt feel like a total cash grab. My budget is super tight right now since we just moved to the suburbs and I'm already paying for her soccer and piano so Im looking for something under $10 a month or even free if thats even possible.
Here is what I actually need:
I am trying to get her ready for school projects this fall and everything Ive tried so far is just a total mess and honestly a waste of time. Does anyone know a tool that isnt just a marketing gimmick? I am ready to just give up on the whole AI thing for her but I know she probably needs to learn it eventually...
> everything Ive tried so far is just a total mess @Reply #1 - good point on Khanmigo, but honestly, I found it a bit too rigid for creative stuff. Unfortunately, most educational AI is just a lazy API wrapper with bad logic. I had issues with MagicSchool AI Student Tools lately so its not as good as expected. Try Mizou AI Platform for Students instead. It has solid guardrails and actually helps with writing without the weird data tracking.
I totally get the frustration with those overpriced wrappers. Most are honestly just junk. If you want something safe and actually free now, look at Khan Academy Khanmigo for Students. Its specifically built for kids and doesnt just give answers.
