Im freaking out a bit because I have this massive pile of footage for a wedding video due in two weeks and my editing speed is just... non-existent right now. So I was thinking maybe some AI tool could do the heavy lifting? I looked at OpusClip and Munch because everyone talks about them but my logic was that those are mostly for social media clips right?? I need something that can actually piece together a 10 minute highlight reel without making it look like a robot did it. I saw Premiere has some AI text-based editing now but I dont know if thats actually faster or just a gimmick... my budget is basically under $40 this month so I cant afford some enterprise level software. what do I even go with?

Honestly Adobe Premiere Pro Monthly Subscription v24 is disappointing. Tried Descript Creator Monthly 10-hour Transcription and Magisto Professional Monthly Plan too... they're kinda bad.

  • Adobe: good text-editing, clunky cuts
  • Descript: fast transcription, bad pacing Unfortunately, skip the AI.

Building on the earlier suggestion I’m actually obsessed with how much faster things go when you use CapCut Desktop Version Pro Monthly! I know people think it's just for TikTok, but the scene detection and auto-culling are amazing for weddings. It’s super reliable compared to other buggy AI tools. The smart trim is a total lifesaver when you're drowning in footage. Honestly, I love it for getting that rough cut done fast! It’s safe and fits your budget!

In my experience, jumping into AI for a wedding is risky if you havent tested the workflow. I've tried many tools over the years and the one-click stuff is mostly a gimmick for long videos.

  • Are you looking for creative cuts or just trimming bad takes?
  • Do you need it to handle the music sync? Honestly, stick to manual editing for the core narrative when you're on a deadline.

Like someone mentioned, the one-click magic isnt really there yet for something as sentimental as a wedding. Its tough when youre on a tight budget too. Are you mostly looking to automate the sync between audio and multi-cam video, or are you hoping for something that actually picks the best shots based on faces? Knowing how much b-roll you have vs ceremony footage would help determine if any tool is actually gonna save you time.

  • I disagree slightly that you should skip AI tools altogether, tho i get the skepticism. You definitely shouldn't let a bot handle the soul of a wedding video, but for $40 you can absolutely speed things up. Honestly, Wondershare Filmora 13 Monthly Subscription is surprisingly decent for this. Their AI tools and scene detection arent perfect but they'll save you hours of scrubbing through raw footage. Another way to go is Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve 18.6 Free Version. Its free (huge plus for your budget) and the scene cut detection is super reliable. It wont edit the video for you, but it identifies takes and breaks them up so you arent drowning in one giant file. Just be wary of some of the more aggressive auto-edit features... they can make things look real cheesy real fast if you arent watching. Use them for the manual labor instead.
