I just started learning how to code because I really want to build a simple website for my aunt's dog grooming shop here in Seattle by next month. I've been watching some videos but honestly I am so lost and it feels like there is way too much to learn all at once.

I keep seeing people talk about using AI to help write the code and it sounds so cool but I have zero clue which ones are actually good or even how they work lol. I dont have a big budget so maybe something free or cheap would be best? Sorry if this is a super basic question! What are the best AI tools for coding in 2024 for someone who is a total beginner?

I remember when I first tried building a site for a local charity back in the day, I was totally drowning in div tags and CSS positioning! It felt impossible until I started using actual AI logic to parse my errors. You are gonna love how much faster this goes once you have the right setup! Check these out because they are absolute life-savers:

  • OpenAI ChatGPT Plus GPT-4o is fantastic because of its massive context window and reasoning capabilities. I use it to explain complex functions like I am five, and it never gets tired of my dumb mistakes. The free version is okay, but the Plus tier is amazing for generating actual file structures.
  • Replit Core Subscription with Replit Agent is literally mind-blowing for beginners. I messed around with it last week and it built a functional landing page just from a text prompt. Since you are in a rush for your aunts shop, this is the way to go because it handles the hosting and the code in one spot. Honestly, Replit is probably your best bet if you want that site live by next month without fighting with local server setups. Its basically a one-stop shop for building and launching. Good luck with the dog grooming site!

Late to the party but I spent weeks staring at a blank screen trying to build my first site before I found what worked.

  • GitHub Copilot Individual Subscription is $10/mo and finishes your thoughts while you type. Its a decent option for speed, tho it sometimes guesses wrong.
  • Anthropic Claude 3.5 Sonnet Free Tier is great for logic but you run out of free messages fast.

No way, I literally just dealt with this yesterday. Small world.

In my experience, Cursor AI Code Editor Free Tier is the best choice. It simplifies the learning curve. Youll have that dog grooming site finished in no time, trust me.
