I really need to figure this out by Monday because I just landed a big rebranding gig for a local coffee chain here in Seattle and the timeline is super tight. Ive been digging around and everyone keeps mentioning Adobe Firefly since its built into Photoshop and supposedly safe for commercial work which is a big deal for me. But then I see what people are doing with Midjourney and the detail just looks so much more pro even if the Discord interface is a total mess to deal with while Im trying to work. My logic was that sticking with Firefly makes sense because its already in my workflow but the results sometimes feel a bit generic or plastic looking?

I also looked into Canvas Magic Studio but that feels more for social media managers and not actual designers doing vector work or high-res assets. I am stuck because I need something that actually speeds up the ideation phase without making the final result look like AI art if that makes sense. Like are there specific plugins for Illustrator that arent just toys? Or maybe something for layout? Im willing to drop maybe 50 bucks a month on a subscription if it actually saves me hours of manual masking or helps me generate mood boards that dont look like everyone elses. What are you guys actually using in a professional capacity that doesnt feel like a gimmick...

Ngl, I have been really let down by the mainstream stuff lately. I tried using the latest Adobe suite for a similar branding project and it just felt... clunky? Like the tools arent quite there yet for actual pros. Firefly is safe but way too flat for a Seattle coffee vibe, unfortunately. If you are struggling with the tight deadline, here is what I have been messing with that actually helps:

  • Recraft AI Vector Art Generator is way better than Illustrators native AI. It actually handles brand-consistent styles and does not just spit out messy paths.
  • Krea AI Real-time Enhancer is awesome for the mood board phase. You can sketch a rough layout and it fills in the gaps instantly. It is a bit glitchy sometimes tho.
  • Topaz Photo AI 3 is basically mandatory if you use Midjourney assets. It cleans up that AI blur and makes things print-ready. It is frustrating that we have to jump through so many hoops, but combining these might save your weekend. Good luck with the coffee gig!

Re: "Tbh sticking with Adobe Firefly Image 3 Model..."

  • I definitely agree on the legal side but you gotta be careful with the output resolution. I had a total disaster last year where a safe AI-generated texture for a packaging project looked okay on my monitor but fell apart when we went to press because the pixel interpolation was a mess. It was honestly a nightmare explaining those artifacts to the printer. I would suggest checking out some of the design law blogs for their updated copyright guides before you commit to a tool for the final files... it changes constantly. Quick question tho, are you planning to use these for the actual logo mark or just for the secondary brand patterns? Also, do you have a dedicated GPU if you decided to run something locally for more control, or are you strictly looking for cloud-based stuff for that Monday deadline?

To add to the point above: I disagree that Adobe Firefly is the safest bet for quality. Honestly, I have this exact same problem:

  • 300dpi artifacting
  • limited raw output

Tbh sticking with Adobe Firefly Image 3 Model is the safest play for client work because of the legal indemnity. To fix that plastic look, I run assets through Magnific AI Image Upscaler using a low creativity setting. It adds back high-frequency detail Firefly misses. For branding, the Adobe Illustrator Text to Vector Graphic tool is actually solid for base paths. It wont be perfect but itll save hours of pen tool work.
