I am actually panicking a little bit because I promised a friend I could help her edit a video for her new boutique opening here in Chicago and the deadline is this Friday morning. I thought it would be easy but I opened some editing software and honestly I just sat there staring at the screen for twenty minutes because there are so many buttons and timelines and I have no idea what I am doing. I keep hearing people talk about how AI is changing everything and making video editing super fast so I was thinking maybe there is a tool that can just do the hard parts for me?
My logic was that if I can find an AI that handles the boring stuff like color correcting or even just picking the best shots then I might actually finish this on time. I saw a couple of names pop up like Runway and Descript and something called Adobe Firefly but I dont even know if those are real editing tools or just for making weird images. Is there an AI that can literally take my raw phone footage—its like 2 hours of clips of people trying on clothes and interior shots of the shop—and just help me make it look like a real commercial?
I have a budget of maybe $50 or $100 if it actually works and saves my life but I really need something that isnt going to take me a week to learn. I tried looking at tutorials for Premiere Pro and I almost cried because it looks so complicated. Are there specific tools that pros use when they are in a rush? Or like an AI assistant that lives inside the program?
Sorry if these are stupid questions I am just a total beginner and I really dont want to let my friend down. If I cant figure this out by tomorrow night I might have to just give up and tell her I cant do it which would suck...
Just caught this thread. In my experience, starting with high-end suites is basically a recipe for burnout. Over the years, I've found CyberLink PowerDirector 2024 Ultimate to be the most methodical balance for a $100 budget. Its AI tools for color matching are actually quite professional. It helped me deliver a project on a tight deadline once when I was overwhelmed. It's definitely easier than Premiere... definitely worth checking out.
Unfortunately, I had issues with Runway Gen-2 AI Video Tools earlier.
Quick question tho, what resolution and bitrate are you working with? It impacts rendering times a lot. I'm pretty satisfied with how Wondershare Filmora 13 AI Video Editor uses AI scene detection to automatically segment files. It supports AV1 encoding which keeps file sizes manageable. Also, Adobe Premiere Elements 2024 AI Version has a solid Guided Edit mode. It is way less intimidating than the Pro version and works well.
Exactly what I was thinking
.
I would suggest being careful with AI tools as they might not produce a professional commercial without some manual oversight. You should probably check out Descript Creator Plan for cutting down your clips quickly using text transcripts. For the visuals, CapCut Desktop Version has strong AI color enhancement features that are much easier than Premiere. Make sure to review the cuts yourself so the flow feels natural.
