What are the best AI tools for professional video editing that actually work? Honestly, Im so fed up with Premiere Pro crashing every single time I try to use the speech-to-text or the generative fill features it's driving me insane. I have this huge commercial project for a client in London due next Friday and I cant spend half my day staring at a frozen screen.
Im looking for something that handles the heavy lifting like:
I have a budget of about $60 a month but I need something stable. Is there anything better out there or am I stuck with this glitchy mess...
I switched my workflow to Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve Studio 19 and I'm very satisfied with the reliability. It's a very safe bet for complex AI tasks.
Agree that Premiere is a total mess rn.
Regarding what #6 said about "@Reply #5 - good point! It is really..." - i totally agree that the software shouldn't be the bottleneck. honestly, after decades in the booth, im finally satisfied with my workflow and i dont miss the constant crashing at all. but jumping in here, i want to give you a quick warning because i see people fall into this trap constantly... dont try to do everything inside your main NLE timeline. the stable ai tools are usually the ones that run outside of your main editing software. a big caution for you: avoid keeping your ai masking and heavy noise reduction as live effects while you work. it kills your vram and leads to those frozen screens you mentioned. i always process my clips through standalone ai engines first and then bring the rendered files into the edit. it keeps things way more stable for big commercial projects like yours. keep your head up, you will find a rhythm that works... it just takes a bit of a workflow shift sometimes.
Same boat, watching this
@Reply #4 - good point! honestly i am in the exact same spot just looking for something that doesnt die every thirty minutes.
Premiere crashes are a meme. Unfortunately, its worse lately. Check out Runway Gen-3 Alpha Cloud for masking and Topaz Labs Video AI 5.3 for noise reduction. They actually use your hardware properly.
@Reply #5 - good point! It is really frustrating when the tools we rely on for work become the biggest bottleneck. If you are looking for stability without breaking the bank, you might want to consider moving your workflow over to MAGIX VEGAS Pro 22. I have found its AI Smart Mask and Z-Depth features to be significantly more stable than the generative tools in the Creative Cloud lately. Just be careful to keep your GPU drivers updated to the specific Studio versions, as that makes a huge difference in crash frequency. For your noise reduction needs, I would suggest the Neat Video v6 Pro plugin. It requires a bit of a DIY approach since you have to manually sample the noise in each frame, but it is a rock-solid professional standard that wont tank your project file. Since it is a one-time cost, it fits perfectly into a budget-conscious setup. For the auto-framing and social crops, CyberLink PowerDirector 365 is another stable option that handles those tasks remarkably well for a fraction of what you are currently paying. It is definitely worth a look if you need to meet that Friday deadline without more hardware freezes.
