I’m looking to speed up my professional workflow with some solid AI tools. I specifically need help with time-consuming tasks like rotoscoping and smart object removal. I’m currently using Premiere Pro but I'm open to standalone software or plugins. What are the most reliable AI tools you’re actually using for client projects right now?
This^ Also wanted to add that I spent years manually masking hair... what a nightmare lol. I'm honestly super satisfied with Boris FX Mocha Pro for professional roto now.
* Use PowerMesh for organic object removal.
* Get the perpetual license to stop the sub bleed.
Lesson: spending a bit upfront on specialized tools saves ur time and stops unpaid rework!
Seconding the recommendation above! I once had a nightmare client project with complex shadows. tbh, while Runway Gen-3 is fast, the neural engine in DaVinci Resolve Studio 19 is basically my daily driver now.
- it's $295 once, so no monthly sub bleed!
- Magic Mask isolates subjects sooo much faster than manual rotoscoping.
Lesson learned: One-time payments save ur sanity and budget. peace!!
I would suggest looking into Topaz Video AI 5 for your professional workflow. Honestly, I'm super satisfied with how it handles the 'pre-work' that makes rotoscoping and object removal way easier. While others mentioned some great high-end stuff, I prefer a safety-first approach because AI can sometimes hallucinate weird artifacts that ruin a client's shot if you aren't careful.
Basically, I use Topaz for its stabilization and motion deblur before I even touch the masking. It creates a much cleaner plate, which means the AI masks you use later dont jitter as much. It’s usually around $299 for a perpetual license, which is a lifesaver if youre trying to avoid the monthly 'subscription bleed' that kills small studio budgets. Ngl, the initial cost feels high, but for a one-time payment, it's been a very reliable part of my toolkit.
One thing though—be careful with the 'Enhance' features on faces. I've had a few moments where it made a client look like a wax figure, so always keep your original layer underneath and dial back the opacity if it looks too 'fake,' you know? It's not a magic button, but for cleaning up noisy footage so your object removal tools actually work, it's solid. Plus, it runs locally on your GPU, so you dont have to worry about cloud privacy or upload speeds. Peace! 👍
So I did some market research and tbh, I'm basically happy with Adobe Premiere Pro 2024 and its new Adobe Firefly Video Model. I used it for a client project last week and it was way safer than hopping between apps, though I'm still kinda cautious about artifacts.
* Stick to native AI for simple fills
* Try Wonder Dynamics Wonder Studio if ur doing character roto
Gl!
Commenting to find later
Watch out: dont trust auto-masks blindly!! In my experience, if ur doing high-end work, they sometimes jitter on complex motion, so you gotta go back and refine those keyframes or it looks messy. But honestly, Runway is literally amazing for object removal and After Effects' Rotobrush is a lifesaver. I use them for basically all my client projects now. Saves sooo much time, you know? gl!
Did this last week, worked perfectly
Same boat, watching this
Just wanted to say thanks for everyone chiming in. Super helpful discussion.
