Hey everyone, I’ve been diving deep into the world of AI art lately, and I’m absolutely hooked. I started out using Midjourney, and while the quality is incredible, that monthly subscription is starting to feel a bit steep for just a hobbyist like me. I've also tinkered with DALL-E 3, but I often run out of credits right when I'm in a creative flow, and buying more feels like it adds up so fast.

I’m really looking for something that won't break the bank but still delivers solid results. I’ve heard people mention Stable Diffusion since it’s open-source, but I’m honestly not sure if my current laptop can handle running it locally, and the technical setup seems a bit intimidating. I’ve also looked at a few credit-based sites like Leonardo.ai or Playground, but the pricing tiers change so often it’s hard to keep track of what’s actually the best deal.

I don't mind paying a small amount for quality, but I’m trying to keep my budget under $10 a month if possible. Are there any hidden gems or newer platforms that offer a generous free tier or a really cheap "pay-as-you-go" model? What do you think is currently the most cost-effective AI image generator for someone who wants quality without the premium price tag?

sooo i totally feel u on the Midjourney sub... it's literally so expensive for just messing around as a hobbyist. honestly i had high hopes for Leonardo.ai too but their recent pricing changes were kinda disappointing and the free tokens dont last long at all now. anyway here is what i recommend based on my own trial and error: 1. Tensor.art - this is basically a hosted version of stable diffusion. u get like 100 free credits every single day which is plenty for most people. it's not as polished as midjourney but the quality is actually reallyyy good.
2. SeaArt.ai - i think this one is even more generous with credits tbh. u can do a lot for free before they ever ask for a dime. it's what i use when i run out of credits elsewhere.
3. Krea.ai - if ur into real-time stuff this is the one. basically u dont need to run stuff locally if ur laptop is a potato... just use these cloud sites. they're much easier than setting up ur own local install anyway!! hope that helps gl

> I’m honestly not sure if my current laptop can handle running it locally Ngl, running SD locally is a headache without a beastly GPU. I had issues with crashes on my old rig... super frustrating. If you want that power without the technical setup, check out Tensor.art or SeaArt.ai. Theyre basically cloud-based Stable Diffusion. Both have daily free credits and pro tiers for like $8-9. Mage.space is also okay, tho their free tier has gotten worse lately. Try those first!!

Totally agree with the above! If you wanna stay under $10, Microsoft Designer is basically free DALL-E 3 without the credit stress. Also, check out Ideogram 2.0... they give you free daily credits iirc and the quality is top-tier. In my experience, Krea.ai has a solid $10 tier for real-time stuff too. Definitely way better value for a hobbyist than Midjourney!
