sorry if this is a dumb question but I have zero idea how to use this AI stuff for my bio test next week. I keep looking at apps but they all want money and I have no budget for this. My logic was that some must be free right? I'm just so confused and overwhelmed...

Regarding what #1 said about dont waste cash on those niche study apps... they are spot on. Honestly, I have seen way too many people get burned by random apps that just spit out total nonsense. A couple years ago, I tried a generic bio helper app for a lab report and it completely hallucinated the steps of cellular respiration. Total mess. In my experience over the years, you really want something that actually cites its sources so you dont end up failing that bio test. I usually point people toward Perplexity AI Free Web Search because it gives you links to real websites for every claim. If it tells you something about genetics, you can actually click the link to make sure it is not lying. I have also been using Anthropic Claude 3.5 Sonnet Free Tier lately. It feels way more logical and less robotic when explaining complex cycles, which helps when you are feeling overwhelmed. Just be careful and double-check the big stuff tho... even the good ones mess up sometimes.

^ This! Also, you really gotta check out Perplexity AI Free Version for your bio test preparation! It is totally amazing because it actually cites its sources with real links. Since you are worried about reliability, this is a total game changer... no more guessing if the AI is just making stuff up! Honestly, I love it so much for fact-checking!

Dont waste cash on those niche study apps because most are just reselling access to the big ones anyway. Stick to the free versions of the majors:

  • OpenAI ChatGPT GPT-4o mini Free Plan for quick questions.
  • Microsoft Copilot GPT-4 Free Web Version to get premium logic for free.
  • Google Gemini Pro Free Tier for summarizing docs. I use these daily and havent paid a cent yet. Copilot is especially good for science stuff since it can search the web for free too.
