I've been working as a freelance editor for a few years, but with all the new releases in 2024, I’m feeling a bit behind on the latest tech. I really want to streamline my workflow, especially for tedious tasks like background removal and audio cleanup.

I’ve tried a few basic features in Premiere, but I’m looking for more robust suggestions. Are there specific AI plugins or standalone platforms you swear by for:

  • High-quality upscaling
  • Automated b-roll generation
  • Advanced noise reduction

I’m willing to pay for a subscription if it actually saves time on long-form projects. Which AI tools are currently providing the most value for professional-grade results?

Respectfully, I'd consider another option. I once managed a massive doc where plugin overhead pretty much killed my render speeds. Honestly, check out DaVinci Resolve Studio 19. Its Neural Engine handles Voice Isolation and UltraNR natively with way better GPU optimization. But yeah, integrated AI is basically a more stable pipeline to work with. Lesson learned: native features beat third-party plugins for professional stability.

ok so i totally get the frustration... i recently tried to speed up my long-form stuff and honestly the built-in adobe stuff is lowkey mid... unfortunately the noise reduction in premiere just doesnt cut it for professional work. i mean it works for a quick fix but i had issues with it smudging the details too much. For your situation, i suggest looking at Topaz Video AI 5.2. It has these specific models like the iris face recovery and proteus fine-tune that are pretty technical but basically they reconstruct the pixels instead of just blurring them. i mean i was expecting magic but sometimes it looks kinda plasticky if you dont tweak the settings perfectly... its honestly not as plug-and-play as the ads say... For the audio side, i would suggest Waves Clarity Vx Pro. i mean i am still learning how the neural network handles the frequencies but its way better than the standard stuff. Also Neat Video v5.6 Pro is still the king for visual noise even if its old school tech mixed with ai now. i tried some free ai noise removers and they were just bad. b-roll is still a mess tbh. i tried Runway Gen-3 Alpha and while the tech is cool its not quite there for professional seamless b-roll yet. it feels a bit uncanny. maybe Descript for quick transcript based edits? anyway hope that helps a bit even if im still figuring it out too... good luck!!

> I’m looking for more robust suggestions. Honestly I have to disagree with the idea that there are easy fixes out there right now because I have the exact same problem! I have been dealing with this for like three months now and I still havent found a workflow that actually works for my long-form projects without being a total headache. It is just so frustrating and I am so glad you asked because I feel like I am going in circles trying to find a real answer! I really want to streamline things too but nothing feels professional enough yet... hopefully someone has a fresh take soon because I am totally stuck with you!

Before I give advice, can you clarify ur budget?

  • Go with Runway, you cant go wrong
  • Just get anything from Izotope
  • Use any tool by Descript It's basically a value game tbh
