Ive got a ton of spreadsheets from my small shop in Seattle and honestly its just a mess. I need to get through it all before next month and Im totally lost. Sorry if this is basic but whats the best AI for looking at big financial files so I dont have to do it manually?
I tried doing this with my own books and honestly OpenAI ChatGPT Plus was a bit of a letdown initially. I had issues with it timing out on larger files which is just the worst when you're in a rush. Unfortunately, it's still probably the best direct answer for your shop data right now. The Advanced Data Analysis feature is what you want because it writes Python code to actually calculate things instead of just guessing. It's not as good as expected if your spreadsheets are super messy tho... if the headers are weird it just hallucinates. I've also tested Anthropic Claude 3.5 Sonnet and it's great for explaining the 'why' behind your spending, but it lacks that deep calculation engine. Just keep an eye on it because it still makes dumb math errors sometimes. It'll get you 90% there but verify those totals!

To add to the point above: i actually think focusing on the tool itself is only half the battle. i went through this exact same headache with my own shop data last year and i learned the hard way that a fancy subscription wont fix bad formatting. i spent way too much on credits only for the ai to give me gibberish because my spreadsheets were such a disaster. heres what i found actually works before you even touch an ai:
over the years i found 2M context windows are essential for messy shops, so i use:
