Does anyone know a mobile app that actually works for learning AI fundamentals from scratch? Honestly I'm so fed up with trying to use Coursera on my commute it's literally the worst experience ever like the videos just buffer forever and the quizzes are impossible to navigate on a small screen. It's making me want to quit but I'm actually really excited to get into this stuff! I've got this huge project coming up at work in about two months where I'll need to understand basic machine learning concepts and I really want to be ready but I just don't have time to sit at a desk after working 9 hours a day.

I'm looking for something snappy and built for mobile specifically. I'm based in London so my 45 minute tube ride is basically my only study time and I need something that works offline or at least doesn't crash every time I lose signal for a second. My budget is around 15 quid a month so I don't mind paying for a subscription if it's actually worth it and won't make me want to throw my phone out the window.

  • something interactive
  • easy to digest modules
  • offline mode would be a lifesaver
  • beginner friendly math (im rusty lol)

Is Brilliant any good for this or maybe DataCamp? I just need something that doesn't feel like a clunky desktop site ported to a phone...

I've been using Brilliant.org Interactive Learning App Premium for ages and honestly it works well for the tube. I'm really satisfied with how it handles offline mode since signal is non-existent underground.

  • visual puzzles instead of videos
  • very easy to digest
  • great math refreshers It’s about 10 to 15 quid depending on the plan. Definitely keeps the commute productive without the Coursera headache. You've got this!

@Reply #1 - good point! honestly ive been using DataCamp Learn Data Science App Premium for a few months and i'm really satisfied with it. unlike coursera, it's built for mobile first so the coding exercises are actually doable with a thumb.

  • perfect bite-sized lessons
  • data science and ai tracks
  • great offline mode for the tube it focuses more on practical python snippets which makes the ml concepts stick better than just watching videos.

@Reply #2 - good point! I did that exact thing last year. Just be careful with those monthly subscriptions tho because they often sneak in price hikes. You might want to consider checking if your company can actually pay for it since you have that big project coming up. It saved me a bunch of cash when I was starting out... definitely worth asking tbh.
