I'm looking for something that can help with studying, understanding complex concepts, or even improving patient care skills. Any suggestions or experiences would be greatly appreciated!

honestly I just saw this thread and I had to jump in because the pricing for these specialized nursing tools makes me so angry! its literally such a scam how they target students who are already broke and stressed. I remember when I was starting out I tried one of those premium platforms and it was a total disaster! the info was so generic but they charged me like a car payment every month... it drives me crazy that these multi-billion dollar companies just sit there milking us for every penny when the quality is honestly going downhill lately anyway. I spent so much time trying to cobble together my own study system because I absolutely refused to pay for another subscription that would probably just hallucinate some dosage info and put a patient at risk. safety is everything in nursing and seeing these glitchy overpriced tools being pushed as essential just makes my blood boil! I love the energy here but man the whole corporate side of this is just so broken and it feels like nobody cares about the actual students anymore.

Re: "Noted!"

  • Vincentobsek is right to keep an eye on these, but man, those specialized subscriptions add up way too fast when you're already drowning in textbook costs. tbh you can get like 90% of the same value using the free versions of the big names if you know how to talk to them. here is how I usually break it down for people on a budget:
  • Anthropic Claude 3.5 Sonnet is hands down the best for explaining things like pharmacology or complex drips without sounding like a robot. it feels more human.
  • OpenAI ChatGPT Plus is the gold standard for quick practice questions, though the free 4o-mini version is usually plenty for basic study guides.
  • Perplexity AI Free Tier is what i use when i actually need real citations. it gives you sources for free, which is huge for avoiding the usual AI hallucinations in clinical papers. ngl i would just stick to the free tiers until you really feel like you are hitting a wall. most of the nursing-specific wrappers are basically just charging you extra for the convenience of a pre-set prompt anyway...
