I'm trying to streamline my workflow because constantly switching tabs to use ChatGPT is getting tedious. I specifically need something that offers a sidebar for quick access and maybe a tool for summarizing long articles or helping with email drafts. Which browser extensions have you found most effective for staying productive without the constant back-and-forth?

Switching tabs is literally a productivity killer. For ur situation, I would suggest checking out these three I have been testing lately.

  • Monica AI Assistant: This is amazing for all-in-one stuff. It has a killer sidebar and handles email drafts so well. It is super powerful but honestly gets kinda pricey if you want the pro features.
  • MaxAI.me: Seriously love this one cuz it feels way faster. It integrates everywhere and the summary tool is fantastic for long articles. Plus, it seems a bit more cost-effective for what you get, right?
  • Merlin AI: This one is also reallyyy good for quick summaries. In my experience, MaxAI.me is the best choice if you wanna save some cash while getting all those features. It basically does everything you asked for without the lag... anyway, hope that helps! peace 👍

ok so tab switching is literally a productivity killer, i feel u on that. honestly, searching for a good sidebar tool is a bit of a minefield because so many of them have hidden costs or tiny daily limits. For your situation, here is what I recommend looking into:

  • MaxAI.me Chrome Extension is definitely one of the better ones. It has a sidebar that lets you summarize long articles or even whole PDFs without jumping around tabs. It works on basically any site, which is great for research.
  • Monica AI Assistant Chrome Extension is awesome for the email draft side of things. It integrates directly into the browser and can help you whip up responses really fast. The interface is pretty clean too. I think you might want to consider the long-term costs tho. Most of these give you a few free daily credits, but if your a heavy user, it adds up quickly. I would suggest starting with the free versions and seeing how many credits you actually burn through in a day. Tbh, some are like $20 a month, which is basically the same as a ChatGPT Plus sub anyway. Just be careful with your data and maybe dont use them for super sensitive work emails since they basically read the page content to function. Make sure to check the privacy policy first... better safe than sorry! Anyway, hope this helps you stay focused. gl!

Just catching up on this thread... honestly there are so many of these extensions popping up every week that what worked a month ago is usually replaced by something better now. In my experience, the most reliable way to find one that actually fits your specific workflow is to just check YouTube. I saw a really solid comparison video recently that went through the top sidebar tools for productivity. Just search for something like best chatgpt sidebars 2024 and it should be one of the first results. They test all the summarizing features and email stuff way more thoroughly than I could here. Reddit also usually has a megathread for this if u search the productivity sub, which is way better than just trial and error tbh.
