I just landed my first proper tech role at this fintech place in London and I start in three weeks! Honestly so stoked to finally get out of retail. I've been digging around online trying to figure out what to study before my first day so I dont look like a total idiot lol.
Some sites keep banging on about ITIL v4 certifications but then I see other threads saying that stuff is basically dead and I should just focus on learning the ins and outs of Azure or AWS instead. It's kinda confusing because I'm just gonna be doing Tier 1 support so is cloud even relevant yet? What are the actual must-have technical skills for someone starting out in a modern helpdesk role today?
Congrats!! Fintech is such a rush! Quick question tho, are you guys gonna be a Microsoft shop or do they give everyone MacBooks? I remember being so lost my first week! Like someone mentioned, cloud is huge, but check these out:
Unfortunately ITIL was disappointing and I had issues with the theory. Focus on cloud instead:
ive been in tech for a while but honestly im in the same boat trying to weigh up which path is worth the investment lately. certification costs are getting out of hand. i have been checking prices for the CompTIA A+ Core 1 and Core 2 Exam Vouchers but even that is pricey. it is tough trying to save money while also trying not to fall behind...
