So i've been doing backend dev for like 8 years now mostly java and some go and i finally decided to make the jump into AI specifically for a project im starting in about 4 months for a local healthcare startup. obviously python is the big one i already started brushing up on pytorch and stuff but my logic was that maybe i need something lower level for optimization?

Like is c++ actually mandatory if i want to do more than just call api's or is that just for the guys building the actual engines. then i saw someone mention julia for the math side and it kinda threw me for a loop. im trying to figure out where to put my energy before my timeline gets too tight so what are we actually using these days...

TL;DR: Stick with Python and dont sweat C++ unless you are building engines. In my experience, Python is where 95% of the work happens. Over the years I have tried many alternatives like Julia, but the ecosystem just isnt there yet. Just get any gear from NVIDIA RTX and focus on the libraries. Feel free to reach out if you need help with the setup once you get started!
