Looking for the cheapest AI video editing software for small businesses?

Hey everyone! I am currently running a small service-based business and we are trying to get more consistent with our social media marketing. As much as I want to put out more Reels and TikToks, the actual editing process is taking up way too much of my time. I have heard a lot about how AI can help speed things up by automating some of the tedious parts, but every time I look for a tool, the pricing seems geared toward big agencies.

I am specifically looking for something that handles the basics like automatic captioning, smart silence removal, and maybe some help with generating short clips from longer footage. We do not need Hollywood-level effects, just something that looks professional and saves us a few hours every week.

My budget is pretty limited since we are still small, so I am hoping to find something under $20 a month or even a reliable free version with a decent export limit. I have tried a few of the big-name editors, but they are either too expensive or way too complicated for my needs. We are mostly working off a standard office laptop, so it needs to be something that runs smoothly in a web browser or doesn't require a heavy GPU.

Has anyone found a hidden gem or a really affordable AI video editor that is perfect for a small business budget?

Curious about one thing: what kind of long footage are you using? If it's talking heads, definitely check out OpusClip... it literally handles the clipping and captioning automatically for basically nothing!!

sooo i saw this earlier and wanted to chime in with some technical alternatives that wont kill your laptop. since youre on a standard office machine, browser-based is definitely the way to go cuz you dont wanna be waiting ten years for a render lol. here's what i recommend:

  • Veed.io Basic Plan: this is basically the gold standard for browser-based AI captions and silence removal. it's super intuitive. pros: literally the best auto-caption accuracy ive seen. cons: the basic tier is usually around $18/mo and has some storage limits.
  • Microsoft Clipchamp Premium: honestly its kinda slept on. if youre on windows, it's probably already there. the AI auto-captions are actually decent. pros: super cheap (around $12/mo) and handles 4k exports no problem. cons: the auto-compose feature feels a bit basic compared to dedicated AI tools. both run smooth in chrome so no heavy GPU needed. tbh for a small business i would lean toward Veed.io just cuz their smart tools for social media are sooo snappy and save a ton of time on trimming. gl! peace

ok so, video editing used to be a total nightmare because you had to manually trim every silence. it basically kills ur productivity. For your situation, I would suggest CapCut Desktop Video Editor cuz its free and actually has GREAT auto-captions. just make sure to check the export limits!! also, Descript Creator Plan is a total lifesaver for clips under $20. it runs in a browser so ur laptop wont crash... gl!

ugh i feel your pain so much. it honestly feels like every 'cheap' ai tool i try just crashes my chrome tabs or hides the export button behind a $50/month subscription right when i'm finished. it's so frustrating trying to find something reliable that doesn't feel like a scam. anyway, since you're on a budget and need reliability, definitely check out Gling.ai Monthly Subscription. it's literally built for removing silences and 'ums' automatically and it's way cheaper than the big suites. for the short-form clip stuff, Pictory AI Starter Plan is pretty solid too and hasn't let me down yet. both of these are super lightweight so your laptop should handle them just fine. hope that helps because the struggle is real lol.
