Is there actually an AI app out there that helps you learn to code without just giving you the answer immediately? Im getting so frustrated because every tool I try just wants to write the code for me, and that isnt helping me learn anything at all.
I looked at Replit Agent and Cursor because everyone on YouTube keeps recommending them for beginners, but honestly, those seem more like tools for people who already know how to build stuff. I need something that acts more like a tutor. Im in Seattle, trying to teach myself basic Python so I can hopefully automate some boring spreadsheet tasks at my job by the end of the year. My budget is pretty much zero since Im already paying for some other online courses.
I tried playing around with ChatGPT, but I keep falling into the trap of just copy-pasting the output instead of understanding the logic behind the loops. Is there a better app that forces you to think through the steps or maybe explains concepts like a teacher would? Everything feels like its designed for shortcuts and I just feel stuck in this loop of not actually learning how to write the scripts myself...
Honestly, stop using the AI to write code. I learned way better by just asking it to explain the logic of a loop without showing me the actual script.
