Hey everyone! I’m switching careers and need to learn AI basics during my daily commute. I need something that covers:

  • Machine learning foundations
  • Basic Python coding

I've looked at Brilliant but I'm not sure if it's best for a total beginner. What is the best app for learning AI from scratch?

I'd definitely look at Enki Pro AI and Data Science Track for your commute. It dives into technical topics like neural networks and linear regression in a way that's actually manageable on a small screen. If you need more focus on the coding side, Sololearn Pro Python and Data Science Path is great because it has a built-in mobile compiler. It makes practicing syntax way easier when you dont have a laptop handy.

Honestly, if youre looking to dive into AI while on the go, DataCamp Mobile App Premium Subscription is probably your best bet. I used it when I was first getting into machine learning and the bite-sized lessons are actually perfect for a commute. It covers Python from absolute zero and gets into ML foundations pretty quickly without being overwhelming. Another solid choice is Mimo Pro Python Path if you want to focus heavily on the coding side first. It feels a bit like Duolingo but for dev work, which kinda keeps you motivated during those boring train rides. Brilliant is cool for logic, but for actual career-switching skills, I found Coursera Plus Annual Subscription way more useful. You can download the videos for the Andrew Ng courses and watch them offline. Tbh, starting with Python on DataCamp then moving to Coursera is exactly how I did it. Good luck with the pivot!

@Reply #3 - good point! Honestly those are all solid but if you want something that is super reliable and just works, you gotta go with Udemy. I love it! Their mobile app is amazing and basically so much more stable than the niche stuff. Just grab any top-rated intro course and you're set. It's fantastic for a commute because you can download lessons so it wont matter if you lose signal. Seriously, it never lets me down!
