Which cloud host is actually the best deal for training models because I'm seriously stressed about my budget? I am looking at Lambda Labs because it seems cheap but I am also considering Paperspace because of the free tier options though I heard their support is slow.

I have this deadline for a computer vision project in exactly ten days and I only have about 50 dollars total to spend on compute credits. Colab Pro is an option too but the random disconnects drive me crazy during long training runs. Is Lambda reliable enough for a fast turnaround or should I stick with Paperspace? I really dont want to waste my money on a setup that fails...

Totally agree about skipping spot instances. Been really happy using RunPod NVIDIA RTX 4090 24GB VRAM lately.

  • super stable
  • around 70 cents/hr
  • works well for deadlines

I would suggest Lambda Labs NVIDIA A100 80GB Cloud. Paperspace is a gamble for tight deadlines, so be careful not to waste your $50 on instances that might disappear mid-run.

Quickly chiming in since I've been through the ringer with these providers. Honestly, avoid preemptible or spot instances when you're on such a tight deadline. I've tried saving money that way and ended up burning my budget because the instance shut down right before the final epoch. In my experience, paying a bit more for a dedicated node with persistent storage is actually cheaper than restarting.
