Hey everyone! I've been working as a junior data analyst for a small e-commerce brand for a few months now, and honestly, the daily grind of cleaning up messy CSV files is starting to wear me down. Every morning I have to pull reports from Shopify and Google Ads, merge them, and then look for specific trends in our customer acquisition costs.

I've been playing around with the standard ChatGPT interface and the Advanced Data Analysis feature, which is great for quick one-off charts. However, I'm looking for something more streamlined that can handle repetitive daily tasks without me having to manually re-upload files and explain the same cleaning steps every single time.

Specifically, I'm looking for tools or GPTs that can:

  • Automatically clean up inconsistent date formats and currency symbols across multiple sheets.
  • Connect directly to Google Sheets so I don't have to keep downloading and uploading large files.
  • Handle datasets that occasionally hit the 50MB mark where the web version starts to get a bit glitchy.

I've heard there are some solid Chrome extensions or API-based tools that integrate GPT directly into an automated workflow, but I'm not sure which ones are actually reliable. Does anyone have a specific setup or third-party tool they swear by for daily data automation? I'd really appreciate any recommendations you have!

Honestly, the daily CSV grind is the worst. I switched to Talarian GPT for Sheets and Docs Add-on a while back and it basically saved my sanity for those Shopify exports. It handles formatting via formulas directly in cells. If your sheets are hitting that 50MB mark tho, check out Coefficient Data Connector for Google Sheets—its way more robust for heavier automation than the standard web UI.

Jumping in here to mention that if you want to keep costs low, you should definitely look into Numerous.ai ChatGPT for Sheets Extension. It lets you batch process those messy date formats and currencies using the GPT-4o-mini model, which is basically dirt cheap compared to a full Plus sub or some of the pricier enterprise connectors. Another technical workaround for those 50MB files is using Apipheny API Connector for Google Sheets. It lets you pull your Google Ads and Shopify data directly into Sheets via API without manual exports every morning. Once the data is in there, you can use simple script triggers to clean everything automatically. Honestly, it takes a bit more setup initially, but it saves so much money in the long run because you arent paying for a middle-man service that charges per row. Kinda the way to go if you want a pro setup on a junior analyst budget.

^ This. Also, just saw this thread and the suggestions for Coefficient and those sheet extensions are honestly solid. They cover the main pain points of the manual upload dance and the messy formatting stuff pretty well... I have been really satisfied with how reliable those sheet-based workflows have become lately for most e-commerce stuff. Quick question tho to narrow it down—are you looking for a totally hands-off low-code setup, or would you be okay with a tiny bit of script-based stuff if it meant handling those 50MB+ files without any glitches? Also, are you pulling those Shopify and Ads reports manually every morning right now, or do you already have them landing in a Drive folder automatically? That makes a big difference for how you'd actually want to build the automation.

TL;DR: The discussion highlights using Coefficient Data Connector or dedicated Sheets extensions to manage the 50MB file limits and automated cleaning. Coming back to this... @Reply #5 - good point! Honestly, i am in the exact same boat and it is so frustrating. I have been dealing with this same Shopify and Google Ads headache for almost four months now. Every morning it is the same manual grind and i still havent found an automation that actually works for my larger datasets without things glitching out. It feels like i am just hitting a wall every time i try to streamline it.

ugh, i am in the exact same spot with my shopify reports and it is honestly soul-crushing. i spend way too much time fixing date formats before i can even start the real work. just a quick heads up though since you are looking at all these tools... i have run into some issues you might want to watch out for before committing long-term:

  • watch your data privacy. some of these smaller extensions ask for way more permissions than they actually need to read a sheet.
  • the costs sneak up on you. a cheap api tool might look good now, but once your data volume grows, those tokens get expensive fast.
  • be careful with automated cleaning. sometimes it hallucinates a currency conversion or flips a date and you wont notice until the weekly report is already sent out. really hoping someone finds a perfect fix cuz i need it too. good luck with the setup tho, it is a total headache.

No way, I literally just dealt with this yesterday. Small world.
