So I finally caved and bought Openclaw last night after watching like ten hours of streams on Twitch. I am super excited to jump in but honestly looking at the skill tree is giving me a headache. Its just so huge and I have literally zero experience with this kind of game. Im sitting here with my coffee trying to plan out my first character and I feel like I might mess it up immediately. I have about three hours every night after work to put into this so I really dont want to waste my first week putting points into stuff that just doesnt work.
My logic was that since I like playing fast I should probably just dump everything into movement speed or whatever makes me hit faster but then I saw some guide saying that defense is mandatory if youre new. Is that true? Because I really just want to zoom around and hit things. I feel like such a noob asking this but what are the absolute must-have skills for a beginner? I dont have any gear yet and I have no gold saved up so I need something that works while being totally broke. Should I focus on:
I really dont get how the scaling works. Is there a specific path I should take through the tree? I saw someone mention a fire build but that sounds expensive and I just have the base starter pack. Im so lost lol. If anyone has a suggestion for like a simple rotation or just which specific nodes I should grab first to make the early game not a total struggle fest that would be awesome. I just want to make sure I dont hit a wall in the first dungeon and get frustrated and quit because that would totally kill my vibe...
Are you planning on using a controller or keyboard? If you're on a Razer BlackWidow V4 Pro Mechanical Keyboard, I can show you how to macro your dash for max speed.
Late to the party, but are you running a Corsair K70 RGB TKL Mechanical Gaming Keyboard? I need to know your inputs before suggesting if leech or regen nodes yield better DPS.
Welcome to the game! Honestly, dont stress too much about the skill tree. Everyone feels overwhelmed at the start, but you catch on faster than you think. Since you want to zoom around, you can definitely lean into speed, but dont ignore your survivability early on or those first few bosses will shred you. For a smooth start without needing gold, focus on these early nodes:
