im honestly so sick of wasting my skill points on junk. i picked up this game last week because my friends in london wouldnt stop talking about it, but now im just sitting here staring at my talent tree feeling like a complete idiot. i spent like 50 dollars on the starter pack thinking it would give me an edge but instead i just ended up dumping points into stuff that doesnt even help with basic combat. its incredibly frustrating because every time i try to jump into a match i get absolutely rolled in like two seconds. i have to figure out a better build by the weekend because my clan is doing a raid and i dont want to be the reason we wipe again. i feel like im missing something obvious here. so what are the actual best agent skills to unlock first for new players so i dont keep embarrassing myself? like is there a specific path i should follow to actually stay alive long enough to be useful or am i just doomed to keep hitting respawn...

Jumping in here because I went through the exact same struggle years ago when the mechanics were way less forgiving. If you want to stop hitting the respawn screen, stop looking at damage numbers and focus entirely on utility movement and cooldown reduction. In my experience, maxing out movement speed modifiers is the single biggest factor for raid survivability. Being able to strafe effectively while reloading is way more important than a few extra points in raw damage. I spent a ton of time testing various peripherals to see how they influenced my twitch reactions, and honestly, the sensor latency on something like the Logitech G Pro X Superlight 25.6k DPI 60g makes a night and day difference when you are trying to dodge incoming fire during a raid. The weight reduction actually helps reduce fatigue during those long sessions. Also, make sure you are binding your primary survival ability to a side button on your mouse rather than a keyboard key. It cuts down your input delay by milliseconds, which in this game is the difference between living and wiping. If you can, prioritize skills that offer crowd control breaks or status cleanses. It sounds boring compared to big damage numbers, but you cant do damage if you are stunned or slowed. Seriously, get those movement nodes sorted first and you will notice you are alive twice as long.

Adding my two cents, you should really look into unlocking passive health regen and the quick revive skill. Are you currently playing as a support or damage dealer? Knowing your role helps a ton. I also found that grabbing a decent pair of headphones like the HyperX Cloud II Gaming Headset 7.1 Surround Sound makes a massive difference for hearing footsteps. It really changes the game when you can actually track where the enemies are coming from before they corner you.

Oh man, dont stress about it! Weve all been there when we first started. Honestly, the starter pack can be a bit of a trap if you dont know what to focus on, but you can totally turn this around before your raid. Stop wasting points on utility and go straight for the survivability and damage nodes. I swear by these ones to get you back on your feet:

  • Adrenaline Rush: This one is a lifesaver when you get caught out.
  • Tactical Shielding: Massive boost to your survivability during intense encounters.
  • Precision Aim: Helps you land those shots even when your heart is pounding. Also, make sure you are running a decent mouse like the Logitech G502 HERO High Performance Wired Gaming Mouse 25K Sensor. It made a world of difference for my aim! You got this!
