I'm seriously stressing out about my rank right now because I've been stuck in Silver 3 for like three weeks and the act is ending soon. I really want to hit Plat before the reset because my friends are all higher rank than me and it sucks being the one left out of queues. I've been maining Jett and sometimes Reyna but I feel like I'm doing it all wrong. I watched a bunch of YouTube guides and some of them say that as a duelist my only job is to have insane aim and just win my ones but then I saw this other pro guide that said aim doesn't even matter as much as space creation and entry utility. Im so confused because if I try to just dash onto site like the pros do I usually just get instantly headshot and then my team yells at me for throwing. But if I play slow and wait for picks people tell me I'm not doing my job as a duelist. It feels like a lose-lose situation honestly. Is it more about movement mechanics or is there some secret to the way you're supposed to use your flashes and dashes that I'm just missing? I really need to know what skills I should actually be practicing in the range because I only have like an hour a night to play after work in Chicago and I dont want to waste it. What are the actual most important skills for a duelist to master if I want to stop being hardstuck?
Jumping in here because I've spent literally thousands of hours in tactical shooters since the early CS days. Honestly, climbing out of Silver is way less about having tenz aim and way more about understanding intent. Over the years, I've realized most Jetts in your rank die because they dash without a clear plan. You're not just dashing to get onto site... you're doing it to break the enemy's crosshair placement. In my experience, if you don't drop your cloudburst first to cover your landing spot, you're just a sitting duck. I used to make the same mistake thinking I could out-flick everyone, but it rarely works if three people are pre-aiming the entry. Also, check your gear. When I finally upgraded to a high refresh rate setup with the ZOWIE XL2546K 24.5-inch 240Hz Gaming Monitor and paired it with a reliable mouse like the Logitech G Pro X Superlight Wireless Gaming Mouse, my tracking felt way more consistent. But the real technical secret to entrying is timing with your team. You gotta tell your initiator exactly when you're going. If your Skye doesn't flash or your Sova doesn't drone for you, you're basically a sacrifice. True space creation is about drawing fire so your team can trade you out. If you die but your team takes site because the enemies were busy looking at your dash, you actually won that round for them. That's the mindset shift you need to hit Plat.
Honestly, I disagree that just understanding intent is gonna fix the problem if your physical control is inconsistent. If you only have an hour after work in Chicago, you cant afford to spend half of it recalibrating your hand to your desk. Unfortunately, most players overlook the technical side of friction and glide when they talk about being hardstuck.
i have to politely disagree with the idea that there is a simple fix to this because i am dealing with the exact same problem as you right now. i have been stuck in the same rank for about two months and honestly i still cant find a solid answer that actually works in game. it is incredibly frustrating when you only have that one hour after work and you dont want to waste money on new gear or coaching when you arent even sure what skills you should be practicing... i am just as confused and stuck as you are.
