Which skills are best for Jett to master first?

Ive been grinding Valorant for about three months now and Im finally sitting at Silver 2, mostly just playing whatever the team needs but I really want to main Jett because her kit just looks so fun to play when you actually know what youre doing. I even bought a skin for her knife yesterday so now I feel like I actually have to be good at her or Im just gonna look like a total clown in my lobbies. I spent like two hours last night watching guides on YouTube and Im honestly more confused than when I started because everyone says something different.

So I was thinking that the dash is obviously the big one right? Like Tailwind is her whole identity and I read on a few forums that you have to learn the timing of that first so you can take aggressive fights and get out. But then I saw this other guide that was saying for lower elo players like me the Cloudburst smokes are actually way more important to master first because if you cant smoke off angles yourself then you are just gonna get headshot the second you dash onto site. My logic was that I should focus on movement first but now Im wondering if Im overthinking it.

And then there is the Updraft stuff... I see some people doing these crazy vertical plays but I feel like I just float there and get shot out of the air like a clay pigeon lol. I really want to know what the actual priority should be for a beginner Jett who is trying to climb out of Silver. Should I be spending my time in the range practicing those quick smoke-and-dash entries or should I just be working on my Blade Storm accuracy since thats basically a free win round if you hit your shots? I feel like my brain is moving in ten directions at once trying to figure out which muscle memory to build first because I dont want to develop bad habits that I have to unlearn later... what did you guys find most helpful when you were first starting out?

> So I was thinking that the dash is obviously the big one right? You gotta be careful focusing too much on fancy Updraft plays. I would suggest mastering the dash-into-smoke entry first. Basically, if you dont learn to smoke your own landing spot, youre gonna get picked every time. Make sure you have a solid mouse like the Logitech G Pro X Superlight Wireless so your flicking is consistent. If your movement is sloppy, the rest of the kit wont even matter.

Like someone mentioned, the movement kit is the fun part, but unfortunately I found that focusing on flashy Updraft plays is not as good as expected for actually climbing. I wasted way too much time trying to learn vertical trick shots only to realize my basic mechanics were the real issue. You should definitely prioritize Blade Storm accuracy first. It is a methodical way to fix your teams economy because winning save rounds with knives is a massive advantage in Silver. I also had issues with tracking while dashing until I upgraded my gear. I switched to the Artisan Hayate Otsu FX Mid XL Black and the precision is night and day, tho it is a bit pricey. I also recommend the Razer DeathAdder V3 Pro Wireless 63g for better flicking. Just dont get caught up in the YouTube highlights... they usually ignore all the times those plays fail.

ngl i actually disagree a bit with the others. ive played way too much jett over the years and honestly the cloudburst smokes are what actually make the kit work. everyone obsesses over the dash but in silver your teammates usually wont smoke the right angles for you...

  • learn to curve them: being able to bend a smoke while youre moving is a massive skill gap. you can isolate 1v1s so much easier than just praying your aim is better.
  • safety first: in my experience, most beginners die because they dash into a site thats still wide open. if you master smoking your own landing spot as you dash, you survive way more entries.
  • mouse stuff: you dont need to spend a fortune on gear especially if you just dropped money on a knife skin. i have tried many and something like the Logitech G305 Lightspeed Wireless is a beast and way cheaper than the pro models. basically you should focus on that smoke-to-dash muscle memory. its less about being flashy and more about not being a sitting duck when you land. spend like 20 mins a day just curving smokes in the range and itll feel like second nature pretty quick.
