What are the most effective Sage abilities for defensive setups right now because I feel like everything I do is getting countered instantly? Honestly I have been playing Sage since the game launched and usually I can anchor a site pretty well but lately its like my walls are made of paper or something. I mostly play on Bind and Icebox and usually my wall on B tube or the standard A short wall on Bind works just fine but I hit Ascendant 2 last week and suddenly everyone knows exactly how to break my setup before the barrier even drops it feels like. Like they are timing their utility so perfectly that my slow orbs dont even matter because they just dash over them or use a gekko wingman to tank the slow while they push me and it is driving me crazy. I have a small local tournament coming up next Saturday with my friends and my team is counting on me to hold down the site and I am honestly starting to panic a bit because my old reliable spots are just getting me killed now.
Should I be focusing more on the slow orb lineups for deep main or is the wall still the priority even with the health nerf being what it is? I feel like the moment I place it it just gets spammed down in three seconds flat. I tried doing those crazy grim walls or the off-angle stuff but half the time I just get picked off while trying to set them up because the enemy team is just so aggressive and they seem to expect it every single round. Its like the meta shifted and I missed the memo or something. Is it better to save the wall for a mid-round retake or should I keep trying to block the initial push? Also I have been struggling with the timing on my heals because everyone is taking so much chip damage from utility now. My confidence is kinda trashed right now and I really need to figure this out before the weekend because I dont want to be the reason we lose our first match...
I've been through every Sage nerf since launch and honestly, that wall is just a money sink if you drop it early. In my experience, those deep slow lineups are what actually stop aggressive rushes. I used to tilt when my wall broke, but switching to a Razer DeathAdder Essential 6400 DPI Optical Sensor helped my lineup precision without breaking the bank. TL;DR: Prioritize deep slows over the wall to save your economy.
Jumping in here. You might want to consider using the wall to create off-angles rather than just blocking the entrance. This forces them to clear weird heights. It buys time. Check out rib.gg for pro VODs.
