Im getting so hyped about starting my own travel vlog channel! Ive been filming tons of footage on my phone during my weekend trips around the PNW and now im finally sitting down to edit everything. The problem is im completely overwhelmed by all the ai video editing tools popping up right now. I read a bunch of stuff online about Descript and CapCut. Like people say Descript is a godsend for text-based editing but then I saw some comments saying the actual export quality can be kinda buggy for long-form stuff? And CapCut is great for quick TikToks but im not sure if it handles 4k footage well enough for a proper YouTube channel. Im just confused because every blog post I find feels like a paid ad for whatever tool is trending this week.
Here is what I actually need for my workflow:
- Needs to support 4k input from an iPhone 15 Pro
- Budget is super tight so I cant really do more than 30 bucks a month right now
- I really need something that can handle background noise removal since my mic audio is often trashy from the wind
- Auto-captioning is a must because I hate doing that manually
- I have about two weeks to finish my first three videos before my trip to Japan starts
Im working on a slightly older MacBook Air so if something is gonna crash my laptop every five minutes please let me know. Do I actually need a dedicated ai editor or am I just buying into the hype and should stick to learning Davinci Resolve properly? Im just trying to get these videos up without losing my mind, what do you guys actually use for real projects...

It handles 4k from my Apple iPhone 15 Pro 128GB perfectly. The voice isolation tool is basically magic for wind noise, and it saves me so much cash. Learning curve is steep but worth it for the long haul imo.

DaVinci is king, but honestly, look into Adobe Premiere Pro 2024 if you need faster AI-driven workflows. Its speech-to-text is rock solid, and the Enhance Speech tool is miles ahead for that PNW wind noise. If your MacBook Air is struggling, try Wondershare Filmora 13 instead. It’s way less resource-heavy than the pro suites but still kills it with auto-captions. TL;DR: Stick to Resolve if your laptop can handle it, otherwise, Filmora is your best lightweight bet.

Man, I feel your pain so much. Been thinking about your setup all day and honestly? The whole AI video space feels like a total minefield right now. I spent way too much cash last year jumping between subscriptions that promised the world and just ended up laggy, bloated messes on my machine. It is exhausting trying to keep up with the marketing hype when you just want to edit your footage.
- Spent weeks fighting software that promised magic but just ate my RAM.
- Wasted way too many hours waiting for cloud renders that failed at 99 percent.
- Ended up with a folder full of half-finished projects because the tools felt more like chores. I really regret chasing the shiny new features instead of just grinding out the basics. It is just stressful when you have a deadline.
