So I'm currently working as a junior designer in Chicago and my boss is constantly breathing down my neck about how AI is going to change our workflow so I figured I better learn what the heck is actually going on under the hood before I get replaced by a bot lol. I have about a 30 minute train commute every morning which is my only real free time to study for the next few months since I'm also doing some freelance stuff on the side. I've been looking around and I keep seeing people suggest Coursera or Udemy but honestly those seem way too heavy for a phone screen while I'm bumping around on the CTA and I really need something bite-sized that works well on mobile.

I did check out Brilliant because the ads are everywhere and it looks okay but it seems like it's mostly just math and logic puzzles and I'm not sure if it actually gets into the nitty gritty of like LLMs or neural networks in a practical way? Also it's kind of a big investment if it's just basic algebra disguised as AI. I'm looking for:

  • something under $20 a month
  • works offline if the tunnel eats my signal
  • actually teaches the tech side not just prompt engineering stuff

Does anyone have a go-to app that actually works for someone who isn't a math genius but wants to understand the tech better?

I used to crush my L commute with this exact goal! Finding Enki AI and Coding App Premium was absolutely amazing for learning the logic behind neural networks without the fluff.

  • Lessons are super bite-sized for short rides.
  • Offline mode works great when signal drops in the tunnel.
  • Also check out DataCamp Mobile AI and Data Science Subscription for the more techy stuff. Both are way under 20 bucks and totally saved me!
