I've been building web apps for over a decade but this move into AI is driving me nuts. My logic was just to grab a GPU instance on AWS like I usually do but availability is a total joke right now and the costs are insane for my $400 budget. I'm trying to host a custom stable diffusion API for a project due next Thursday and I'm totally stuck. Thought about Lambda or maybe Vultr but I've heard mixed things about their persistent storage speed. Is there anyone actually offering reliable GPU support that doesn't feel like a beta product or cost a fortune? I'm losing time trying to find a spot that actually has stock in US-East...

Totally agree with the previous post that the big clouds are a nightmare for availability right now. I've been really satisfied with Paperspace Core NVIDIA RTX 5000 16GB VRAM lately for my Stable Diffusion APIs. The 16GB of VRAM is basically the sweet spot for running SDXL models without breaking the bank, and honestly, the storage speed issues people talk about are usually overblown if you stick to their Core instances which use NVMe. I've had no complaints with their uptime in the NY region, and it definitely feels like a more polished product than some of those bare-bones rentals. For a $400 budget, youre gonna get way more mileage there than trying to fight for a spot instance on AWS. It works well and is way less of a headache to set up before your deadline. Just watch your egress costs, tho they're usually pretty fair. You got this!

> costs are insane for my $400 budget Late to the party but honestly, check out Vast.ai GPU Instances RTX 3090 24GB. I've been super happy using them for my personal projects when AWS gets too pricey. That $400 will go so much further there. Just look for the verified hosts with high reliability scores and you'll be fine. It works well and saved me a ton of cash.

In my experience, chasing availability on AWS for small-scale AI projects is a losing game these days. If you have a $400 budget for a Stable Diffusion API, you should probably skip the big three and look at specialized providers. I've tried many over the years and RunPod Secure Cloud NVIDIA A6000 48GB is usually my go-to for balance between cost and raw performance. Their storage latency used to be an issue, but they've tightened that up lately. Another solid choice if you can find the stock is Lambda Labs On-Demand NVIDIA A10 24GB which fits perfectly within your price range for a week of heavy testing. Honestly, for your Thursday deadline, RunPod is likely the only one that will actually have a node ready in US-East right now... the provisioning is way faster than Vultr anyway. Their interface is less polished, but the hardware is legit.
