Need something for my small freelance design biz by next week. Im torn between Midjourney and Stable Diffusion. Midjourney looks way easier but the monthly sub adds up, and I really need local control. Is it worth the learning curve of SD to save cash, or should I just pay up?

Honestly, Midjourney is a visual powerhouse but the lack of control drives me crazy. I had issues with their rigid prompting style. If you want real power, you gotta use NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 24GB GDDR6X for local runs. Unfortunately, setting up Stability AI Stable Diffusion XL is a headache at first, but having full control over your models is worth it when a client needs specific tweaks. Save yourself the sub fees.

Building on the earlier suggestion, I totally agree that local control is king for pro work. If you go the local route, grab an ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super 16GB GDDR6X for a solid balance of speed and VRAM.

  • Use Automatic1111 for the best community support
  • Always verify your driver updates to avoid weird artifacts Honestly, it beats paying subscription fees forever. Just keep your local workspace organized and you will be fine.

If you need local control and want to avoid that monthly bill, looking into Fooocus might be a decent middle ground. Its basically a simplified interface for local generation that is way less intimidating than a full SD setup. Since you are worried about costs, using local hardware saves you a ton of cash over time. Just make sure your rig can handle it, maybe snag a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 12GB GDDR6X if you are building something budget-friendly that still flies. Its a solid card for productivity without breaking the bank. Ngl, the initial setup takes a bit, but once you get the workflow down, you wont miss the subscription fees at all. Good luck with the freelance grind.
