Ive been grinding ranked lately trying to finally hit Gold before this act ends in like ten days and Im really struggling with who to main for strictly entrying. Im currently Silver 2 on NA East and usually play with a duo who plays smokes but we keep getting stuck at the choke points every single round because nobody on our team wants to go in first so I figured I should just take over the duelist role and do it myself.
So I was thinking that Jett is the obvious choice since every pro uses her and her dash is legendary for a reason but then I read some stuff on Reddit saying she isnt actually the best pure entry anymore since the dash nerf and that Raze is actually better for taking space. My logic was that Jett is safer because you can just dash into your own smoke but then I see people saying Raze is the goat for maps like Bind or Split because her nades and boombot clear all the annoying corners for you. The thing is my movement is kinda mid so I dont know if I can get the same value out of her satchels as a high rank player would and I feel like if I mess up a satchel I just die like a bot.
Then there is Neon which is another one I was looking at. I saw some crazy movement guides for her lately and her slides seem almost impossible to hit if you do them right but then I read that she is way too risky if you dont have perfect aim while sliding so I am just stuck. Plus I play on a older laptop with about 90-100fps so sometimes that high-speed Neon movement feels like Im just lagging out and losing my crosshair placement entirely.
I want to know who is actually the most reliable for just getting onto the site and getting that first kill without dying instantly. Like who has the kit that makes it the easiest to actually win that first duel and keep the momentum going? Is it better to have the dash to get out of trouble or the utility like the blast pack or boombot to force them out of their hiding spots? Im trying to decide who to sink all my practice hours into this weekend before I start the final push. Is there a clear winner for entrying in low-mid elo or is it just whatever feels good...
I have been thinking about your situation because it reminds me so much of when I first started grinding back in the day. I have been playing since the beta and have tried pretty much every duelist through all the balance patches over the years. In my experience, especially when you are dealing with lower frame rates on an older laptop, your hardware can actually dictate which agent you will succeed with more than the actual meta does. I used to play on a setup that hovered around 80fps and trying to play Neon was a total disaster... the micro-stutters during high-speed slides made my crosshair placement basically non-existent. Since you are on a budget setup, you really want to maximize your value without needing crazy flick aim. I actually found that spending a tiny bit on a better mouse like the Logitech G305 Lightspeed Wireless Gaming Mouse helped my entrying more than anything else because it is super responsive for the price and doesnt have that heavy cable drag. Pair that with a cheap but solid SteelSeries QcK Gaming Mouse Pad and your consistency will spike even on a low-end rig. But before I give you my final pick for the Silver to Gold push, I need to know one thing... what kind of mouse and surface are you actually using right now? If you are on a generic office mouse or a tiny desk space, that changes which agent kit is actually safe for you to use. Are you finding that you lose track of the enemy more during vertical movement or horizontal flicks when things get chaotic?
> Is there a clear winner for entrying in low-mid elo Building on the earlier suggestion, Jett is too hard with your FPS, but Phoenix is amazing! Raze has utility, but Phoenix wins Silver on a budget. Grab a Razer DeathAdder V2 Wired Gaming Mouse!
I hit that same wall in Silver last year and switching to Raze was a decent option. Her kit basically entries for you so you dont have to rely on raw aim.
