Honestly Im so fed up with Apex lately. I keep getting absolutely crushed every single time I drop into a lobby and I feel like I have zero clue what Im doing. Ive been playing for about three weeks now, mostly in the evenings after work here in Chicago, and I really thought I would pick this up faster but its just not clicking. I keep watching these videos on YouTube where people are doing these crazy movement tricks and using abilities I didnt even know existed, and then I jump into a game and get wiped in like ten seconds by some sweat with a glowing skin.
Its super annoying because I really want to enjoy this game with my friends who are already way higher level than me, but I feel like such a liability. I keep picking random legends and then forgetting to use their tacticals until I am already dead on the floor. I dont have a huge budget to buy all the premium ones right now either so I am pretty much stuck with the base roster, which is fine, but I dont even know which ones are actually worth learning properly. Am I supposed to be focusing on movement, positioning, or just learning how to actually shoot the guns first? Or are there specific skills or character types I should be prioritizing so I dont just stand there like a sitting duck every single round? If I have to get sent back to the lobby one more time without even getting a single knock I might actually lose my mind. Which legends should I stick with to actually start improving and what specific skills do I need to focus on so I dont feel totally useless?
Honestly, stop sweating the movement stuff for now. Just stick with Bangalore or Bloodhound. Bangalore is great because her smoke keeps you alive when you get caught out, while Bloodhound basically does the work for you by highlighting enemies. If you really want to improve, just focus on keeping your crosshair at head level. It works wonders. Grab a decent mouse like the Logitech G502 Hero 25K DPI and just practice your aim in the firing range for ten minutes first.
Building on the earlier suggestion, I honestly had issues with Lifeline. She feels too passive for learning mechanics. Try Gibraltar instead. He has a gun shield, which is a lifesaver for bad positioning. Also, ditch the basic setup. I had issues with cheap gear, so consider upgrading to a Logitech G502 Hero High Performance Wired Gaming Mouse for better aim control.
@Reply #1 - good point! Honestly though, I disagree that Bloodhound is the best place to start. If you want to survive, learn Lifeline instead. She is great for beginners because you get actual utility for the squad while you learn the maps.
