Im getting so frustrated trying to pick a language app for Spanish. I need to be conversational in like 6 months because my job is sending me to Mexico City in the fall and my current level is basically non-existent. Ive been scouring Reddit and saw a bunch of people swearing by Duolingo but then others saying it is just a game and doesnt actually teach you to speak. Then I looked into Babbel because it seems more structured, but I dont know if the AI feedback is actually worth the subscription price compared to just hiring a cheap tutor on iTalki.
My logic was that an AI app would be cheaper and I could use it whenever I have downtime at work, but im worried ill just get good at clicking buttons instead of talking. Is the AI conversation feature in apps like Speak or TalkPal actually good or is it just gonna get confused when I mess up my grammar? I have a budget of maybe 20 bucks a month, I just need something that isnt a total waste of time because I really dont have that much time to waste before this trip...

Honestly, I had such high hopes for Speak AI-Powered Language Learning App but it honestly let me down. It struggled with my pronunciation and just got weirdly repetitive. Honestly, skip the apps if you need results for Mexico City in 6 months.
- Just grab an iTalki tutor, it is way better.
- Use Anki Flashcards Digital SRS for vocab. Apps just dont feel real enough for actual work.
